Tauranga Central 3कमरा Off-grid oasis in central Otumoetai, Tauranga

We are selling our off-grid oasis in central Otumoetai, Tauranga. It is truly a little piece of wild in suburbia. It is a 2471sqm (approx.) section with a 3 bedroom home which is 82 square metres (approx). There is a seperate sleepout and plenty of room for parking cars and a caravan.

The home was built with love by the previous owners in 2017. It was constructed to be as healthy and Eco-friendly as possible using timber varieties that don't require treating and natural oils and paints. Clad using local Lawsoniana timber, painted with pine tar and linseed oil, recycled timber floors and joinery retrofitted with double-glazing, wool insulation and a whole house filter with copper pipes with plans for those wanting to collect rainwater in the future.

The home was designed with a large living space and loft, creating a family oriented and social home rather than everyone heading to their rooms in isolation. The light that streams through the windows is magic in my opinion! The loft has been used as a kids' art and play space, a second living, an office or an extra bedroom. There is also a separate building that can be used as an office to enable a work from home option - we currently have it set up as a spare bedroom and have recently carpeted it.

No need to pay for power with 3kw of solar panels. Energy is stored in a high-spec lead/carbon battery bank plus a 5kw backup generator. The wood-burner keeps the home cozy in winter and heats the water.

Adventurous kids will love exploring this section, which is tranquil and private with Tui and Kereru in abundance. Wonderful neighbours and a safe neighbourhood also make this property extra special. Walking distance to schools and daycares.

We have since added our own touches to the garden and with the help of Backyard Pardise we transformed the back slope into a beautiful food forest. Many hands helped with digging and planting and the forest will only continue to develop over the coming years. We have seen an abundance of fresh fruit, greens, corn, tomatoes, chillies, rhubarb, herbs, berries, citrus, cabbages, pumpkins and the list goes on. I have added some progress photos from this as it was such a major project and we think an incredible addition for anyone looking to be more self sustainable. We removed a few trees to allow all the sun to flow in, so there is now enough firewood chopped to keep you going for another winter at least and so much potential on this incredible section.

There is the option to connect to the grid for those who would prefer that.
