My first contact with Mangawhai was in 1982 when my older sisters bought a bach in Wintle Street. We all quickly fell in love with ‘Mangawhai’ and our family spent many happy holidays and weekends here. We watched Mangawhai grow from a sleepy ‘one store and a garage' holiday destination to a bustling community both at the Heads and the Village. We have met and enjoyed making the acquaintance of many people along the way.

We escaped the city finally 12 years ago when our youngest child moved out of home. This gave us the opportunity to make the big move to Mangawhai and we have not looked back. We love the country, beachy aspect of Mangawhai (who wouldn’t) and all our children and grandchildren love visiting us here.

It is with first-hand knowledge I can encourage purchasing clients to make the move and enjoy a quieter, slower kind of life they will grow to love, but with a multitude of activities to become involved with if they wish. Mangawhai has the advantage of being reasonably close to Auckland and the community has many people that commute or work at home via their computer.
