Christchurch Central 2બેડરૂમ European comfort for kiwi lifestyle

We designed this beautiful single storey house to be our very first New Zealand home when we moved from Europe. It was and still is welcoming, bright and colourful and has all of the European features we were used to.

This is a modern looking and bright house oriented to all day sun, located on a quiet private road and perfect for downsizing. It has two bedrooms, one bathroom (with shower and spa bath), kitchen, laundry area, a small garden and an internal access double garage with anti slippery epoxy flooring. Modern beautiful kitchen stone bench tops, gas hob, brand new oven, dishwasher and a fridge/freezer. The area opens to an open plan living that leads to a small fully fenced courtyard overlooking the park and perfect for al fresco dining. It includes a sheltered custom made wooden area perfect to seat up to 8 people, plus a small fully equipped outdoor kitchenette.

Here is a list of the most important improvements made:

-wall mounted heaters in every space (hallways, living area, bedrooms and bathroom), all centrally and remotely controled; all the living areas have lots of sun, but we wanted to be able to heat properly the entire house, hallways included

two VELUX skylight windows (with rain sensor, insect net and parasolar) installed in the garage and in the bathroom respectivelly; - this chages drastically the way these two spaces are used and maintained; from two dark and damp areas, the garage and the bathroom were transformed into two well lit and aerated spaces

- the skylights are operated with remote controls

- custom made storage covering all the garage walls; the garage can still fit two cars but has an immense area of storage custom made to fit any sort of belongings

- high quality cupboards in the bathroom and in the laundry; racks and proper shelvings into the bedrooms’ dressings

- the attic is also used as storage space; the access is from the garage through an attic pull down, colapsible, ladder

proper shower head over the spa bath

- LEDs throughout the house; lighting is actually one of the highlights and this makes the space really bright and welcoming

- in order to use every space in the most efficient way, we made custom made shelving in the living area

- proper small outdoor kitchenette area (with cupboards, hot water sink, outdoor splashback and marble kitchen bench etc), as well as a wooden seating area which is meant to shelter from the wind (made with kwila timber) and a bar area with three permanent bar stools

- the house is paint in bright colours and patterns which makes the space look more spacious

- all spaces (except for garage, kitchen and bathroom) are covered with quality wooden floor

The house also includes heatpump in the living area and underfloor heating in the kitchen and bathroom. Fridge/freezer, plus washing machine and dryer are included. If the buyer is interested, we are happy to negociate a price including the existing dining furniture and other features.

The house is part of the Styx Mill Country Club which gives the owners membership to the high end facilities: indoor heated pool; gym, cardio, jacuzzi, sauna, tennis courts, BBQ area and a covered and heated pavilion with sound and video system designed to accommodate functions up to 100 people.

Just accross the park from the house and next to the Country Club facility, there is The Option Bistro & Wines cafe and restaurant open daily from breakfast, lunch and dinner. New World supermarket, Northwood Supa Center and Willowbank Wildlife Reserve are all within a very short drive. The area is surrounded by reserves and parks being one of the best Christchurch neighbourghoods. It is also close to the City Center and the aiport.
