Originally built in 1899 over just 3 levels, few will know that this building was once home to a drapery department store called 'The John Courts Building'. It wasn't until 1916 that another 3 levels were added in the same stunning Victorian Italianate style to create the iconic complex many know and love today.
Due to being strengthened in the late 90's-Early 2000's the earthquake rating is one of the highest you will find in a character building. Already standing for more than 120 years, it's fair to say the now regally named 'Queen Victoria Building' has stood the test of time.
