Our motivated vendors will consider all genuine expressions of interest for the iconic Ferry Hotel, a substantial 1100 m2 two story building, set on 3.0989 hectares. No longer in operation, the Ferry Hotel has a history that dates back to 1865 when the Riverside Hotel was constructed for storekeeper William Maloney. A ferry would transport the people of Wairoa back and forth across the river.

The Ferry Hotel sits on the bank of Wairoa River, offering fantastic water views from some of the 11 accommodation rooms and the managers three bedroom flat upstairs. Look at the view in the large dining room downstairs! There are three bars, plenty of bathrooms, and a commercial kitchen.

Our vendors understand that big buildings come with their own issues (and a big yearly Rates bill) As they look to wind down their company, they are keen to raise a glass for the last time for the Ferry.

North Clyde in Wairoa has a current land category of 2C, post Cyclone Gabrielle. This means that at the moment, there are restrictions for insurance cover and finance lending.

The community in Wairoa waits to see what Flood Migitation option will be taken in February 2025. It is hoped that flood mitigation will allow for the removal of the current land category.
