Lin Norris

With 30 years as a successful rural real estate specialist, the word ‘experience’ is indeed a true reflection of Lin Norris. Such service is hard matched by any other agent in the local field, yet in typical Lin style, this is not a moment to brag. Yes the experience is immeasurable and has led to many significant sales, but for Lin, equal value is placed on surrounding himself with a great team, sharing his wealth of knowledge and getting on with the job graciously. 

Raised on a family dairy farm in Dargaville, Lin also spent time in the NZ Police, both at uniform level and later, as a detective in Auckland. Whilst the lure of rural life brought him back to dairy farming and then on to real estate in the rural sector, the culture of police life will always stay with Lin. Negotiating with all types of characters and fostering trust are two highpoints of this earlier career, carried firmly into real estate. Clients speak of Lin’s proactive and genuine work approach, taking great reassurance from his thorough understanding of rural sales and processes – all values that help set Lin apart from the competition. 

Whilst past management roles held with Bayleys Northland, including Principal Officer, Company Director and Country Manager, have positively shaped Lin’s work life, the real passion for him lies at the coalface - facilitating sales and building enduring relationships with people connected to dairy, drystock farming and forestry, be they rural professionals, young farmers taking next career steps or retirees considering a change. 

Even family life for Lin and his wife, Margaret, collides with farming, where Lin enjoys supporting his son-in-law directly on the land. Two adult daughters have also shown Lin how work can be balanced out with grandchildren! Participating in sports to a high level, including senior rugby and completing marathons, has now been eased back to fiercely following rugby and cricket of all levels.
