With faster build times and easier finance options to choose from, buying new is easier than ever before. There is good competition in the market place from building companies with many design options. There's so much more choice available.
Loan rules are different for new builds. There is a lower deposit requirement and there are options for no loan repayments until you move in. This means no double outgoings while your house is being built.  
Dunedin has a lot of ageing house stock. When you compare buying an old home to building a new home, size for size, the difference isn't very much and you get so much more in a new home.
They are warmer, healthier and don't require any maintenance for years.

If you are thinking about a new home, you should at least investigate the option of building new."
