A well recognised name in real estate, Alex Baker has been a top performing sales professional for over 20 years and has consistently been among the industry’s top sales consultants.  During that time he’s built an enviable reputation for  delivering outstanding results among a wide network of very satisfied clients throughout the Eastern Suburbs and central Auckland.  In June 2014 he made the exciting move to Barfoot & Thompson Remuera.

Well-known as much for his fun, energetic manner as his astute marketing skills and dedicated professionalism, Alex’s  success in real estate is underscored by a career that suggests a great balance of personal attributes.

Initially, his exceptional people skills and passion for business, took him along the hospitality track, establishing and  operating some well-known restaurants. He then sold up in the late 1980s to embark on a law degree. On completing an LL.B., he was  employed by one of New Zealand’s top law firms – Simpson Grierson – where he specialised in building and construction law.

Five years later, Alex decided to branch out on his own as a real estate salesperson. His legal background gave him a  fantastic grounding in real estate.  Alex was immediately successful and quickly became a dominant presence in Auckland’s market. He discovered the beauty of selling in the central Auckland and Eastern Suburbs areas is the variety it offers.  Whatever a property is worth, Alex treats it with the same care.

His strong commitment to service gives him an edge, as does his ability to adapt to ever-changing needs through embracing technology.  As part of a supportive Barfoot & Thompson team, Alex has a personal assistant, Raewyn Anderson who has worked with him for over seventeen years and is also a licensed salesperson. Raewyn is highly organised and knows Barfoot & Thompson’s systems and procedures inside out. While Alex is the face of his business Raewyn is the cog that  assuredly turns the wheels to make sure things happen behind the scenes.

But it’s not all work for Alex who enjoys exercising at the gym, skiing, playing bridge, and entertaining as well as travel.  He is a Chair Sponsor of the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra (APO) and the Past President of the APO Guild, the former charitable fundraising arm of the APO, and continues to assist with APO membership programmes and events. With a long association with Waiheke Island, Alex is also a silver patron and on the fundraising committee of Headland Sculpture on the Gulf (New Zealand’s leading contemporary outdoor sculpture exhibition).
