Le Poisson Du Jour
In life we all have commitments. We all have to work or look after the family or run errands. We dream of jumping in the boat and escaping to a remote beautiful place where we catch fish, lounge in the sun with a gin and tonic, turn off the phone and bask in the detox from everyday life. Cause lets face it, often our lives are filled with nothing but the mundane. No adventure, no mystery, no joy.
The thing is, these commitments that we have, they are important. We do have to go to work. We do have to make sure the kids get to cricket practice on time. We do need to take Mum out for lunch on Sunday. Unfortunately, this takes up our time. You can’t head up to the Bay of Islands on Friday with one days’ notice if little Johnny has his big rugby game on Sunday.
But you could jump in your boat and come over to Waiheke Island. You could pack the boat with the essentials, pick the kids up from school at lunch time for a ‘doctors appointment’ and make the half hour journey across the Tamaki Strait to your own private oasis and be back in time for family dinner the next evening. You could be happy.

You will arrive in a secluded and sheltered bay, drive your Sea Legs up the beach or tie up to your mooring capable of holding an eight-meter vessel, unload and walk up the stairs to your cozy cottage. You will fillet your fish to the sound of your family playing outside and the crackle of the outdoor fireplace. You will wake up the next morning, walk out to your garden with a cup of hot joe to collect some fresh produce to go with the snapper on toast you are currently making for breakfast.
With 50,000 liters of water storage and solar power making being out there extremely easy, no one could really blame you if you never came home!
If need be, the local shops and amenities are only a short boat ride and drive away.
