The hard work has been done and now our vendors are ready to retire. Having been a very successful Gold orchard, the decision was made to cutover from G3 to Ruby Red in 2021.
The owners have advised that a Zespri pre-commercial trial was completed in 2021 and the first commercial crop (from 0.243ha) was harvested in March 2022. This harvest produced 2,459 trays with an OGR of up to $19 per tray predicted by Zespri.
The remainder of the 2ha red orchard will have its first harvest in 2023. Harvest estimates and OGR estimates are:
2023 1.85ha 10,000 trays $17 per tray
2024 2.0ha 15,000 trays $16 per tray
2025 2.0ha 20,000 trays $15 per tray
The orchard also has great shelter, a massive shed with a consented kitchen area and bathroom, and is currently on Kerikeri Irrigation water scheme.
Plant and equipment are also included.
